May 6: Erie County Ohio —Restroom facilities at Osborn MetroPark’s Frost Center and the Castalia Quarry will reopen beginning May 6th. Upon reopening, restrooms will be sanitized once daily. Erie MetroParks asks that restroom use be limited to emergencies only. Facility reservations will also be suspended, and indoor facilities, with the exception of aforementioned restrooms, will remain closed to walk-in traffic through the month of June. Erie MetroParks will refund any existing June reservations. Erie MetroParks will be cancelling all in-person programs through the month of July 2020. The situation concerning coronavirus precautions will continue to be monitored and reevaluated as new information becomes available from state and local officials
Erie MetroParks staff will continue its work of conserving natural resources while connecting the community with nature through education and exploration. During this period of precautionary social distancing, The Great Outdoors remains open. The park district includes over 3,000 acres and more than 30 miles of trails in every corner of Erie County. Erie MetroParks encourages individuals to explore the parks, get some fresh air, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the natural world.

April 9 Statement
April 9: Erie County Ohio — Erie MetroParks will be cancelling all programs through the month of May 2020. Facility reservation will also be suspended, and indoor facilities will remain closed to walk-in traffic during the month of May. Erie MetroParks will refund any existing reservations. In order to comply with the state mandated shelter in place order, Erie MetroParks will be closing all outdoor play/exercise structures throughout the park district. The public restrooms in The Frost Center at Osborn MetroPark will also be closed until further notice. All public parks and trail systems remain open. Park visitors are asked to keep a distance of 6 feet apart.
March 19 Statement
March 19: Erie County Ohio — Erie MetroParks will be cancelling all programs through the month of April 2020. Facility reservation will also be suspended, and indoor facilities will remain closed to walk-in traffic during the month of April. Erie MetroParks will refund any existing reservations. The situation will continue to be monitored and reevaluated as new information becomes available from state and local officials.
March 13 Statement
March 13: Erie County Ohio — In abundant caution, due to the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19, Erie MetroParks will be cancelling all public programs and facility reservations from March 16th through March 31st, after which the situation will be reassessed. The Frost Center at Osborn MetroPark will also be closed to all walk-in traffic. All cancelled facility reservation fees will be refunded in full.
Following Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s decision to close schools grades K-12, and in close partnerships with the Erie County Health Department, Erie MetroParks officials have decided that it is in the best interest of all park patrons and Erie County residents that public programming be cancelled in conjunction with school closings mandated by the Governor’s office. Erie MetroParks will continue to monitor the situation and collaborate with health and safety professionals to evaluate when public programming can resume.
