Eagle Point

The Observation Deck is the perfect place to catch the best views of American Bald Eagles soaring over the bay, as well as numerous ducks and other water fowl. This area is a vital portion of freshwater marshland along Ohio’s northern coastline and offers visitors an excellent site for viewing wildlife.

Through the extensive trail system at this location you will find the mouth of Plum Brook and its backwaters that form the greater part of the preserve’s wetland area. The woods harbor a wide variety of wildlife including whitetail deer, fox, squirrels, and coyote. Nesting among the mature trees are great horned owls and redtail hawks.  You may also discover The Coop; a refurbished chicken coop that is now utilized for nature programming and group camping.

Erie Metro Live Steamers is a nonprofit group that promotes railroad history, safety, education, and the live steam community.  The club operates an ever-growing layout of 7.5-inch gauge track and has scheduled about ten public runs per year. Find out more at www.eriemetrolivesteamers.com

Also located within the Eagle Point area is the Enchanted Cottage which features a beautiful deck overlooking Plum Brook. Multiple public programs are held at The Enchanted Cottage and it is also available to the public by reservation for children’s themed parties.
